The Turtle Races in Nisswa deserves its own post....partly because of all the pictures we took O:-) Children young and old can purchase a chance to race a turtle. We took part in 5 of the 6 types of races and although we didn't win any of them it was definitely a lot of fun! We discoved that Michael is fearless when it comes to animals (see the fish post later) and wanted to play with the turtles so bad that every time we had to leave the circle he screamed in protest!
The Hartmann crew (including Grandma and Grandpa Hartmann) headed north to Pequot Lakes for a week long vacation with the Jackson side of the family. We were very lucky to have a DVD player in the back of the car so Michael was able to enjoy watching Looney Tunes for most of the trip. This pic is a rare occurance where he kept the headphones on!!
We also spent time sleeping and reading :-)
Our first night there we went down to the beach and discovered that Michael LOVES to play in the sand. So the next day we went down (kinda) prepared. Little did we know that he would also LOVE the water....even if it was a little chilly ;-)
Summer has finally arrived! School got out Wednesday and yesterday was filled with cleaning out my classroom. Next year I'll be moving up to 3rd grade. Still not 100% sure of what subjects/languages I'll be teaching as it might work out to be part of a 2nd/3rd grade team. I'm nervous but also very excited. Looks like I'll be busy this summer!
As if the grade change isn't enough I've decided to start my Masters. My first class started last week and with any luck I will be finished by May 2012. We are leaving tomorrow for a vacation in Minnesota with the Jackson side of Luke's family. Should be fun! I'm sure I'll have a million pics to post when we get back. In the meantime, I have lots of laundry and packing to do today ;-)
As always Memorial Weekend proves to be fun and busy. We had a fish fry at Grandma and Grandpa Hartmann's with a bunch of people from both sides of the family. Grandma even got the pool out. Wasn't too sure at first but as usual he warmed up to it!
The three of us also went to check out the Mississippi River Museum. We ended up getting a family pass - I think Michael and I will spend a good amount of time there this summer :-)
